MATLAB

MATLAB is a software platform for solving complex mathematical problems. It can be used to perform numerical calculations, analyse data, develop algorithms and visualise the results.

The software is available to all lecturers, staff and students at Leuphana via a campus-wide licence.

General information on MATLAB

How can I use this service?

In order to use the service for the first time, you need to register as a member of Leuphana via a special website. Go to the website and click on the button "Sign in to get started". You will then be asked to enter the access data for your MathWorks account. If you do not already have a MathWorks account, click on "No account? Create one!".

If you have created a new MathWorks account, you will receive an email with a link to confirm the account. Now enter your name data, select a password and choose an occupation and department. The latter details are not designed specifically for Leuphana and are therefore kept very generic.

Important: In order to be able to use the campus-wide licence, it is mandatory that your MathWorks account is registered to an email address @leuphana.de or @stud.leuphana.de!

After you have logged in to your MathWorks account or created one in the way mentioned above, you will be redirected to the dashboard of your account. Here you will now receive confirmation that the Leuphana licence has been linked to your account. If you wish, you can immediately use MATLAB Online or download the installer (see below). You will also receive an email confirmation of the successful licence link.

What access options do I have for MATLAB?

You have the following options for using MATLAB as part of the campus-wide licence:

As a web app (MATLAB Online)

Go to the MATLAB website and log in with your MathWorks account. Then click on the button "Open MATLAB Online".

As software for local installation

MATLAB can be installed locally on computers running Windows, macOS or Linux. You can download the installer from the dashboard of your MathWorks account. To do this, click the download arrow next to the MATLAB licence in the "My Software" section. Alternatively, go to the MATLAB website, log in with your MathWorks account and click the "Install MATLAB" button.

As an app for smartphones and tablets (MATLAB Mobile)

The MATLAB Mobile app is available for installation on mobile devices from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
