VPN Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
2026-10-12 Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) now also available for the VPN access
The MIZ has recently enabled Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for many services – and now also for the VPN access.
As of now, you can connect to the Leuphana VPN using MFA, making your access more secure than ever.
In your VPN client, you will now find two new options to choose from:
- Leuphana Intranet MFA
- Leuphana Online-Recherche MFA
If these options do not yet appear in your client, simply log in to the VPN as usual. The new MFA option will then be automatically installed on your device.
The actual VPN login takes place in your standard web browser. After selecting the MFA profile, Microsoft’s login page (https://login.microsoftonline.com) will open automatically.
Important: MFA-based VPN login is only possible using your Leuphana email address.
For compatibility reasons, the previous VPN access will remain active until 30 September 2026. After this date, the old entry will still be visible in the menu but will no longer work. It will be automatically removed at a later date.
