Opening Week 2014

Demographic Opportunity

The Opening Week 2014 explored the challenges and opportunities of demographic change. Following the launch of the Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC), Healthy Living and Active Ageing, by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) in February 2014, students were asked to develop business models for dealing with demographic change. No matter whether the focus was on culture, health or technology, the aim of Opening Week was to promote creativity and ambition even before the start of students' studies to create sustainable concepts for an ageing society. The concepts were not only to be innovative, but also to take account of social, societal and economic aspects.
