General Information

Thesis supervisions for students of the Major BWL, Major IBAE, WiPäd as well as the Master's programs LBS Wiwi and Management & Entrepreneurship, Management & Sustainable Accounting and Finance, are allocated at Leuphana University of Lüneburg via a central application process in myStudy.

The professors who supervise final theses in management and business administration participate in the application process. Courses are set up in myStudy for each participating first examiners. To apply for a supervision commitment in the next semester, simply apply in the current semester via the course of your preferred first examiner.

The central application process provides fixed registration periods. These can be found in the following overview:

Registration deadlineThesis preparation period
June 15 to August 15Winter semester
December 15 to February 15Summer semester

After the registration period ends, the first examiners will decide. Once the decision to supervise your thesis has been made, you will be moved from the waiting list to the registration list of the course of your first examiner and informed accordingly via myStudy message. This corresponds to a confirmation of supervision. The supervision commitment is binding for the corresponding semester.

The myStudy guide and the FAQ will clearly guide you to the courses and provide you with all important information on the application process.

It should be noted that professors can also have their staff carry out the supervision - if this makes sense in terms of content and capacity. Even if the content-related agreement remains the most important criterion, a certain thematic flexibility of the students is still required. There can be no claim to be supervised by a specific first examiner. Please note the prerequisites and required documents mentioned by the respective professors in the myStudy courses as a main condition for a commitment.

Please note that the supervision commitment is limited to one semester is valid for the upcoming semester. Therefore, participation is only recommended from the 5th Bachelor semester onwards.

Through the application process, you will only receive a supervision commitment from your first examiner. Please select the second examiner in consultation with the first examiner.

You will be informed regularly via newsletter about the start of each round of the application process for thesis supervision of management & business administration programs.

The registration for the application process and the associated deadlines are independent of the registration of the thesis at the examination office.

Students who have not receiveda supervision commitment of their preferred first examiner have the opportunity to apply to professors who still have free capacities in a second application round. They will be informed by e-mail and invited to reapply.

2nd Round Thesis Supervision Management & Business Administration Programs

For professors who still have available capacities, another course will be created in myStudy. Students who have not yet received a confirmation of supervision can apply in a second application round.
