FAQs

The medium of instruction at my secondary school was English. Do I need to prove my language skills with an additional test?

No, if the medium of instruction at your secondary school was English, you do not need to send an additional test. It needs to become clear from your secondary school certificate, that the medium of instruction for all your subjects was English. It is not evident from the certificate, please hand in a confirmation of the medium of instruction from your school.

I cannot provide the required proof of English by the application deadline. May I submit this later?

Proof of English language skills should always be submitted at the time of application. The proof can be submitted at the latest by the beginning of the lecture period. Please note that you will lose your place of study again and will be exmatriculated if you are unable to provide the proof by the start of lectures.

When I apply for an English-taught programme, do I also need to demonstrate proficiency in German?

No, if you choose a major/minor combination that you can study entirely in English, you do not need to demonstrate knowledge of German. However, you will need German language skills for everyday life situations.
