Discover your degree programme for a sustainable future
Are you interested in the environment, sustainability and social change – and looking for a degree programme that combines scientific perspectives with practical solutions?
At the Open Day for the Global Environmental and Sustainability Studies (GESS) and Environmental Sciences (UWI) degree programmes, you will gain an authentic insight into studying at Leuphana College.
The Open Day is aimed at prospective students who are asking themselves:
- How can science and society work together to develop solutions to environmental and sustainability issues?
- What role do I want to play in this?
- Which degree programme suits my interests and goals?
Two study programmes – different perspectives on sustainability
At the Open Day, you can learn about both programmes and find out which one suits you best.
focuses on international sustainability issues and global transformation processes from a social science and political perspective.
combines natural sciences, social sciences and practical projects to analyse environmental problems scientifically and develop sustainable solutions.

What to expect at the Open Day
To begin with, we will discuss questions that concern many prospective students: What challenges will shape our future? What opportunities does a degree in sustainability offer?
Students report on their everyday student life – from their first semester to their bachelor's thesis. Lecturers provide insights into their fields of research.
Find out how you can tailor your studies to suit your individual needs – through elective modules, research projects, international experiences and a combination of major, minor and complementary studies.
At themed tables, you can talk directly to students and lecturers and ask your questions – for example, about:
- Everyday student life and timetables
- Stays abroad
- Research projects
- Master's degree prospects
- Student engagement
Exchange with the GESS & UWI Community
After the programme, we invite you to join us for a picnic in the Kurpark. Here you can continue chatting with students in a relaxed atmosphere and get to know campus life.

Optional: Study aptitude test on the following day
On 19 June 2026, you will have the opportunity to take the study aptitude test on campus.
The test result can earn you additional points in the application process.
