Assessments at College

The staff of the Student Services will inform and advise you on all questions relating to assessments. The Examination Office is the executive body of the Examination Board. The Examination Office is responsible for implementing and complying with the rules of the General Assessment Regulations and the Subject-Specific Schedules.

Important note

In the course of the current corona crisis and the resulting changes in the framework conditions for studies and teaching, all Leuphana staff are currently working flat out to continue teaching and examination activities in the best possible way, thus avoiding delays in studies and graduation. In the event that it will not be possible to be present on campus for a longer period of time, arrangements are to be made to supplement the framework examination regulations in order to enable students and teachers to react as flexibly as possible to circumstances that may change rapidly. In the next few days, the university committees will deal with the necessary regulations for a possible change in the way examinations are conducted. After the committees have made their decision, we will release the exam registration form as soon as possible.

General Examination Regulations and discipline-related appendices

The General Examination Regulations lay down the general terms and conditions of examinations. They are legally binding and regulate, among other things, study schedule, admission requirements, recognition of credits, examination procedure, examination dates and registration deadlines, absence and withdrawal from examinations, cheating during examinations, grading, opportunities to retake exams, and much more.

Discipline-Related Appendices

The discipline-related appendices (DRA), which exist for each major/minor subject, are part of the General Examination Regulations and contain the specific curriculum of a subject. Required modules and their content, types of class, the type and number of graded pieces of work and the number of credit points that have to be gained in a Leuphana semester, the Complementary Studies program and individually selected major and minor or subject/area (teacher training) are regulated in detail and in a legally binding way.

General Examination Regulations, forms and discipline-related appendices are available only in German and are legally binding only in this form.


Examinations in presence

University operations in the winter semester 2022/2023 will basically be conducted completely in presence, as in the previous summer semester. All courses will basically be offered in on-site presence. All Leuphana facilities will be open on a regular basis, and all research projects can be carried out on a regular basis. In the third year of the pandemic, we want to send a clear signal that Leuphana focuses on personal encounters and direct discourse on content in research, teaching, studies and administration, and cultivates the culture of presence on campus for the benefit of science and education. In addition, our efforts to conduct university operations entirely in presence are an expression of the deans' and academic deans' ever-increasing concern about the quality of studies and the assessment that the quality of studies has suffered significantly under the conditions of extensive digital or hybrid teaching in recent semesters. We see it as our responsibility to reverse this development and therefore clearly focus on personal exchange in presence.
