Applications for human rights studies now open
2023-04-24 The part-time study programme 'Governance and Human Rights' at the Professional School of Leuphana University Lüneburg deals with the principles of responsible governance in order to promote the safeguarding and protection of human rights. The English-language study programme is internationally oriented and qualifies graduates from all over the world to enter the workforce in international or non-governmental organisations as well as in development aid. Prospective students have until 31 May to apply for a place on the programme.
Responsible government, known in academia as governance, is at the centre of the study programme. The lecturers place great emphasis on the practical application of the knowledge taught. Therefore, students start working on their own project either on governance or human rights early in their studies and organise their own conference on a topic of their own choice at the end of the study period.
The four-semester study programme is organised as a distance learning programme: The lectures and seminars take place mainly as e-learning units. The attendance phases are bundled into three one-week blocks. This type of study organisation enables the mostly foreign students to study while working and almost independent of location. The new director of the Master's programme is Prof. Dr. Till Patrik Holterhus, an expert in public law, especially constitutional and administrative law.
