Part-time Master Data Science

Machine Learning - Data Analytics - Deep Learning

The programme is offered in the German language and is thus directed at prospective students with a good command of German. The programme’s German-language web pages provide detailed information needed on the content of the course and application procedures.

In times of advancing digitalization, large amounts of complex data are generated about different processes in organizations and our daily life. The desire to make decisions derived from this data poses new challenges for their evaluation. With the part-time Masters degree in Data Science from the Professional School you will acquire the methodological foundations to exploit the potential of this data and to use it profitably in organizations. In three study semesters you will deepen your knowledge in the field of data analysis and learn to analyze large and complex data sets using modern IT infrastructures with advanced and up-to-date methods of data analysis and machine learning - such as deep neural networks or probabilistic graphical models.

Master Management & Data Science at the Graduate School: You don't want to study the part-time Master, but are looking for the English-language standard Masters programme in Management & Data Science? You will find it at the Leuphana Graduate School.

Content: The path to a career as a data specialist

The study programme prepares you to process and investigate large amounts of complex data independently and with current analysis methods. In several modules, you will acquire subject-specific knowledge in the fields of mathematics and statistics, machine learning and the use of common IT infrastructure. In addition, you will also be enabled to identify potential areas of application for data-driven methods and to evaluate possible implications from different perspectives, such as societal relevance.

In each semester, you will also take a transfer module in addition to the subject-specific modules in order to put your acquired knowledge into a professional, application-oriented and critical context. For example, in the practical project in the second semester you can work on a problem from your own everyday professional life and apply your acquired knowledge directly to your individual work practice during your studies.

Course of study: Study for your Master Data Science at the weekends

The part-time study programme is designed in a way that you can remain employed at the same time and earn your degree in just 18 months without any loss of earnings, in order to achieve the best possible balance between work, study and family.

The individual modules consist of alternating phases of contact events (attendance and online) and self-study. Contact events take place on weekends (usually on Fridays and Saturdays). The self-study phases are carried out with the support of an online learning platform, on which you can work on exercises, exchange information with lecturers and fellow students in discussion forums or participate in video consultation sessions.
