Governance and Human Rights Conference

Quenching the thirst of people and business

On 19 September 2024, the Master's in Governance and Human Rights invites you to its annual student-organised online conference from 2 pm. This year's conference will be held on the topic of "Quenching Thirst of People and Business - Reconciling the right to water and (responsible) business practices in the food and beverage sector".

This year's conference will focus on the connection between corporate activities and the increasing scarcity of water worldwide as a key global challenge. In particular, corporate due diligence to respect the human right to access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene in the food and beverage industry, including the agricultural sector, will be at the centre of discussions.

The conference aims to create a platform for dialogue between stakeholders, industry leaders, policy makers, human rights activists and academics. The aim is to contribute to the promotion of responsible water management within the legal framework by sharing experiences, insights and strategies.

Topics include

  • The connection between business activities and the human right to water
  • Challenges and opportunities for water-intensive sectors: the case of the food and beverage industry
  • Case studies, including existing best practice examples
  • Identification of trends and relevant innovations

Registration will be activated for you on this page as soon as possible.
