Certificate Sustainability Reporting and Accounting: Application

We are delighted that you would like to study the Sustainability Reporting and Accounting certificate programme at Leuphana Professional School. Here you will find all the important information about the possible participation options and your application for the part-time certificate programme.

We have summarised 10 tips for a successful online application for our certificates in sustainability management. Please read the following application guide carefully. You are also welcome to take advantage of our application consultation service, where we will advise you personally and support you in the application process if required.

Participation options

You have various options for participating in the Sustainability Reporting and Accounting certificate programme:

  1. You can start as a regular certificate student at the beginning of the programme in October, take the exams and earn credit points during the course and the university certificate at the end. For this participation option, you apply regularly via our myCampus application platform. Please note the information in the following sections.
  2. You do not have a first degree or would like to complete the certificate without examinations? Then you can register for a certificate participation. This will allow you to benefit from the content and in this case you will receive a certificate of attendance (without acquiring credit points or a university certificate).   3. Would you only like to take individual modules? Then you can join the programme via module studies or module participation. This is also possible after the application deadline. Please contact our team for the examination.

Admission Requirements

For the Sustainability Reporting and Accounting certificate, you must meet the following entry requirements:

  • A first university degree
  • At least one year of professional experience
  • Advanced English skills

The following evidence valid at the time of application is recognised as sufficient:

English grade - academic performance:

  • The taking of the subject English as an advanced or main subject of the gymnasiale Oberstufe (upper secondary school)
  • The minimum score of 8 points in the basic course/subject English of the gymnasiale Oberstufe (as an average of the four course semesters and, if applicable, the Abitur/A-Level examinations) as stated in the Hochschulzugangsberechtigung (HZB) (higher education entrance qualification)
  • A final grade of at least 3.0 in English as shown in the valid higher education entrance qualification (HZB)
  • European Baccalaureate with English as a language final grade of 7.0
  • IB-Diploma with English as Standard Level final grade 5

The following tests are recognised as proof of English language proficiency:

  • TOEFL test (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 61
  • Cambrigde B2 First (FCE-Test Cambridge First Certificate in English) at least Scale 160
  • Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE-Test Cambridge Advanced Certificate of English) at least Scale 180
  • Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE Test Cambridge Proficiency in English) at least Scale 200
  • IELTS Academic Version (International Language Testing System) with at least 4.5 points
  • TOEIC Listening & Reading with at least 650 points
  • TOEIC Speaking & Writing with at least 280 points
  • Pearson Test of English, Academic Test (PTE Academic) with at least 30 points

On application and after individual assessment, the following can also be recognised: 

  • other common test procedures with an equivalent score
  • Conducting an English-language telephone interview using a standardised interview guide; the interview is conducted by appropriately qualified employees of Leuphana University of Lüneburg
  • Documented stay abroad in an English-speaking country for at least 6 months
  • English-language publication in a recognised scientific medium
  • an English-language university degree (full-time in Germany or abroad) of at least one semester duration with successfully completed examinations

Start date and deadline for applications

The Sustainability Reporting and Accounting Certificate starts in October of each year. You also have the option of taking individual modules and having them subsequently credited to the certificate programme. You can register for the individual modules until the start of the respective module.

How does the application process work?

Applications for the certificate programme Sustainability Reporting and Accounting can be made online at any time. Through our online application system, you can easily complete your application online and upload documents. In addition, you can cache your application and complete it later. After the application deadline has passed, all documents are reviewed and the admission process begins.

Application documents

When applying online for the Sustainability Reporting and Accounting certificate, you must also upload the following documents:

  • Curriculum vitae in tabular form
  • Proof of at least one year of professional experience (after the first degree)
  • Certificates of previous academic degrees
  • University entrance qualification
  • If applicable, proof of German language skills (for non-native speakers)

If your application is successful, the following documents are also required for enrolment

  • Certificate of exmatriculation from previous periods of study 
  • Proof of insurance from a statutory health insurance company

Admission

After receiving your application, you will receive a written confirmation of receipt from us by e-mail. If we need further documents from you, we will contact you. As soon as we have received and checked your complete application documents, you will receive a letter of admission.
