Your qualification in sustainable chemistry
In the Sustainable Chemistry and Benign by Design certificate programme, you will take a total of four specialist modules. In two extra-occupational semesters, you will acquire comprehensive interdisciplinary knowledge about the design and redesign of chemicals at university Master's level.
The modules in the Certificate Sustainable Chemistry & Benign by Design
The modules in the Certificate Sustainable Chemistry & Benign by Design
Environmental Chemistry (5 CP)
In this module you will deal with the following topics, among others:
- Sources, reactions, transport, effects and fate of chemical substances
- Effects of anthropogenic action on these processes
Toxicology and Ecotoxicology (5 CP)
In this module you dedicate yourself to the basics of toxicology and ecotoxicology and focus on toxicological risk assessment.
Modelling of Chemical Properties and Fate (5 CP)
In this module you will deal with the following topics, among others:
- Basics of databases for chemical substance properties
- chemoinformatics basics of structural property relationships (QSAR) as well as modelling
Benign by Design (5 CP)
In this module you will cover the basics of targeted substance design as well as the application of Benign by Design in different application contexts (for example pharmaceuticals, complexing agents), taking into account various sustainability criteria.
