Applications now open for human rights degree programme at Leuphana

2025-04-03 Lüneburg. The part-time Master's programme in Governance and Human Rights at the Professional School of Leuphana University Lüneburg focuses on the principles of responsible governance. The qualification aims to promote the establishment and protection of human rights – both through work in non-governmental organisations and through the design of a fairer business world, for example through fair supply chains and other corporate socially responsible actions. The English-language programme has an international focus and was recommended by the UN. Students from around the world benefit from guidance by international faculty members. Graduates are well-equipped for careers in international or non-governmental organisations, development aid, and corporate roles that drive ethical business transformations. Applications are open until 31 May for the programme starting in September.

At the core of the programme is responsible governance, with a strong emphasis on practical application. From the early stages of their studies, students begin developing their own governance or human rights projects. Towards the end of their studies, they organise their own conference on a topic of their choice.

The four-semester programme is organised as an online course. Students and teachers work together online for the most part – either simultaneously via Zoom or asynchronously via the learning platform. The two attendance weeks are also organised in a hybrid format, allowing students who are unable to travel to participate remotely.

This flexible study model enables international students to study part-time and almost independently of location. The head of the Master's programme is Prof. Dr. Till Patrik Holterhus, an expert in international public law, in particular constitutional and administrative law.

Further information about the programme can be found at www.leuphana.de/gahr. Prospective students have the opportunity to arrange a personal consultation with the programme coordinator, Dr. Iryna Shkura (gahr@leuphana.de, phone 04131.677-2942). In addition, various online information events on 11 April, 14 May and  28 June 2025 are offered for those interested.
