An evening full of pride and emotion: In November, it was that time again: for the second time in 2025, we celebrated the graduation of 110 students from the M&T faculty. Lecture Hall 2 was filled with joy but also a touch of melancholy—after all, this evening marked the end of an intense period of study and, at the same time, the beginning of new paths. Many relatives and friends of the graduates attended this momentous occasion.

Words of encouragement: The dean of the faculty, Prof. Dr. Paul Drews, warmly welcomed everyone and guided them through the evening. This year's speech by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Benjamin Klusemann was particularly moving, as he invited us to critically question our society's culture of error avoidance. His message was clear: mistakes are not defeats, but helpers—opportunities from which something new can emerge. With an urgent appeal, he encouraged the graduates to be courageous, to make decisions, and to sometimes take unconventional paths.

Voices from among the students: The two graduate speakers, Palina Bedarava (Bachelor IBAE) and Sthitadhee Panthadas (Master Data Science), took us on a journey through their time at university. Their words reflected the ups and downs, the challenges and the joys that came with their studies. It was a moving moment that highlighted the community between Bachelor's and Master's students.

A sign for the future: The graduates were symbolically “presented” with 10 oak trees, which will be planted in their name in the Sauerland region in mid-2026. A powerful symbol of stability, growth, and the roots that the graduates were able to put down during their studies.

Ceremonial presentation and memories: The presentation of the certificate folders to the graduates by a professor from the department was a further recognition of each individual's achievement. This special moment was captured in a photo as a memento.

Music that touches the heart: The Hamburg artist INSA also accompanied us musically at this celebration, creating a special atmosphere with her sounds.

Special commitment: At the end of the ceremony, all graduates who had volunteered in committees, projects, associations, or similar initiatives during their studies were honored by representatives of the student councils. This award recognized not only the students' academic achievements, but above all their commitment to university life.

An evening to remember: The 2025 graduation ceremony was more than just a ceremony – it was an emotional farewell, a thank you for the time spent together, and a courageous look ahead.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our graduates all the best for their future and we look forward to staying in touch with them in the future!
