Our mission statement

Values

Entrepreneurial

Responsible
In all our areas of activity, we emphasize a responsible approach in social, economic, environmental and personal dimensions and resources. We enable our students to think and act in a sustainable way and to understand the impact of their own actions and decisions. We conduct research in a responsible way which includes assessment of its potential impact. Our understanding of responsible management is improved through exchange with other universities in the PRME initiative.

Interdisciplinary
The challenges of our time require interdisciplinary approaches and corresponding competencies. By combining the strengths of multiple disciplines, we are able to contribute innovative findings to research and solutions to practice. We value the additional perspectives and personal skills that develop through interdisciplinary work as they are necessary in many work contexts. Our degree programs include interdisciplinary courses to prepare our students for professional life and for future challenges.

Solution-oriented
We value a mindset that allows our faculty, students and staff to develop solutions to transform business and society. Our students learn to methodically explore a situation, and to develop, evaluate and apply solutions. We leverage our academic knowledge to support individuals and organizations in developing new solutions to major challenges.

Entrepreneurial
We value the ability to identify, seize and create opportunities that challenge existing and often unquestioned structures and thus create economic, ecological or social added value. Entrepreneurial skills include the development and realization of new business models, ideas, innovations and solutions. We encourage faculty and students to take initiative, to be courageous and to transform the world through entrepreneurial action.

Our understanding of entrepreneurship

Our vision of entrepreneurship goes beyond setting up new businesses. We understand entrepreneurship as a key competence to identify, seize and create opportunitiesthat advance society by creating value – economically, environmentally, and socially. Entrepreneurship expresses itself in the form of projects. These can include, for example, the establishment of a start-up, but also the implementation of an innovation in an existing organization. The aim of such projects is to solve practical problems and gain new insights.
