Part-time and flexible training to become an expert in sustainable chemistry

The Master's programmes at Leuphana Professional School combine the acquisition of sound expertise in the field of Sustainable Chemistry and its management with interdisciplinary competencies and soft skills to comprehensively prepare you for future leadership tasks.

All Master's programmes are accredited by external agencies and provide an internationally recognised university degree. Both professional Master's programmes are taught in English and are primarily based on distance learning with few on-campus classroom sessions offering practical experiences and opportunities for networking. Our innovative learning platform provides around-the-clock access to all teaching materials, allowing a flexible learning experience that is easy to adapt to your professional and private schedule. Additionally, you are never left alone in your academic endeavour, as our team offers continous support during the online phases, ensuring you have the guidance and assistance you need every step of the way. 

The part-time degree programmes at the Professional School are tailored to the needs of working professionals. The on-site sessions are bundled into a few weeks in Lüneburg providing hands-on-experience and great networking opportunities. Most of the curriculum is delivered through distance learning with teaching materials being available for self-study on our innovative learning platform. In parallel, our unique team of lecturers, coming from industry, academia and authorities, offer online sessions to answer and discuss any questions that might arise. Additionally, our administration and coordination team provides continous support during the online phases, ensuring you have the guidance and assistance you need every step of the way, while you will also receive an annual counseling session on your individual study plan.

M.Sc. Sustainable Chemistry

In the four-semester English-language Master's programme, you will learn to understand and apply chemistry in the context of sustainability. For this purpose, you will deal with a broad range of topics, starting from the level of the molecule to global material flows, sustainability assessments and new innovative business models for chemical products.

MBA Sustainable Chemistry Management

Practices of Sustainable Chemistry

In this three-semester certificate programme, you will learn to integrate sustainability into the practice of chemistry in socio-economics and learn about the links between chemistry and sustainable development and their relevance to current EU and global sustainability policies.

Study content: Concepts of Sustainable Chemistry, Resources, Recycling and Circular Economy, Regulations and International Conventions, Tools for Sustainable Chemistry.

Duration: 3 semesters, 20 credit points

Sustainable Chemistry and Benign by Design

This two-semester certificate programme focuses on (re)designing chemicals under sustainability aspects based on environmental chemistry and toxicology and examines the potential and applicability of Benign by Design.

Study content: Environmental Chemistry, Toxicology and Ecotoxicology, Modelling of Chemical Properties and Fate, Benign by Design.

Duration: 2 semesters, 20 credit points

Sustainable Chemistry and Regulatory Affairs

In this certificate programme, you will acquire knowledge about international chemicals management in the context of sustainable chemistry and learn about the most important political frameworks for the management of chemicals at national and global level based on environmental chemistry and toxicology.

Study content: Environmental Chemistry, Toxicology and Ecotoxicology, Law, International Regulations, and Global Chemicals Management, Project Work Chemistry, Sustainability and the 2030 Agenda.

Duration: 1-2 summer semesters, depending on personal study arrangements, 20 credit points
