ISZ Chemistry Working Group Meets Sustainability Research
2026-11-03 Fall Meeting at Leuphana University of Lüneburg
On October 22, 2026, the ISZ Chemistry Working Group of the Industry and Employers’ Association for Writing, Drawing, and Creative Design (ISZ) convened for its fall meeting—this year at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Dr. Vânia Zuin Zeidler in the main building of Leuphana University Lüneburg. The evening before, the participants took the opportunity to network in person over a group dinner at the Mälzer Brau- und Tafelhaus. On the following Thursday, the group was able to dive right into the technical topics.
The meeting focused on current developments in the areas of chemical regulations, product safety, and consumer protection. Prof. Zuin Zeidler, Oliver Schmidt (Laves)—who will soon become an honorary professor—and Prof. Zuin Zeidler’s research team provided participants with fascinating insights into their work in the field of sustainable chemistry—a topic that is becoming increasingly important for the industry. The collaboration was fully supported by the School of Sustainability at Leuphana University Lüneburg, with Prof. Daniel Fischer, Associate Dean for Internationalization and Collaboration, in attendance.
The goal of this collaboration is to develop truly more environmentally friendly and safer alternatives to chemical compounds—in line with the principles of sustainable chemistry—that are used, for example, in children’s products. The protection of consumers—especially children—is explicitly a top priority.
An All-Around Successful Event
This year’s fall meeting was regarded as a great success by all participants. The event was characterized by in-depth expertise, new scientific perspectives, and constructive discussions. The combination of industrial practice and university research proved to be particularly fruitful—and lays the foundation for a promising long-term collaboration.
