Film by Leuphana students at the Nordic Film Days Lübeck

2024-11-07 Lüneburg/Lübeck. "Vom Verschwimmen und Verlaufen" (On Blurring and Disappearing) is the title of a film essay by Elisabeth Keßler and Joona Heed, both students at Leuphana University in Lüneburg, which has made it into this year's competition at the Nordic Film Days in Lübeck. The film was created as part of the seminar "Der Natur einen kurzen Film" (A Short Film about Nature), led by Hamburg filmmaker Maya Connors. The Hamburg filmmaker Maya Connors led the seminar.

Kessler and Heed report that they based their approach on the atmosphere that the film was supposed to create rather than on the content. The great creative freedom they were given in the experimental film seminar allowed them to follow their impressions with camera and audio recorder, thus creating an "organic and atmospheric short film".

The seminar is part of a series offered as part of the Media Practice module (Bachelor of Cultural Studies) and organized by the Institute for Culture and Aesthetics of Digital Media (ICAM). Here, students are given the opportunity to engage with media, most recently with a focus on film, in a practical and creative way.

Further semester works can be seen on January 31 at 7:00 p.m. at the Scala Cinema in Lüneburg (from the seminar "Experimental Ghost Stories" by Maya Connors) and on January 30 and 31 at the Leuphana Kunstraum (seminar "Feminist Storytelling" by Clarissa Thieme).

"Vom Verschwimmen und Verlaufen" will be shown on November 10, 2024 at 1:15 p.m. at the Lübeck City Hall.
