Information for students, professors and lecturers about the examination period and the further course of the summer semester 2022

2022-06-30

Dear university members,
Dear professors and lecturers, dear students, dear colleagues,

In view of the current development of the Corona infection figures, this week the Presidential Board, together with the deans and deans of studies, the heads of the institutions and departments and the representatives of the students and the Staff Council, discussed the implementation of the examination period and the further course of the summer semester 2022 and passed the following resolutions:

  1. In principle, examinations in the summer semester 2022 will be conducted in accordance with the applicable framework examination regulations, i.e. in person on campus.

  2. As an exception to the regular procedure, Leuphana will also accept digital submission of written examinations in the summer semester 2022 for the following examinations:
    a) written parts of combined scientific papers (to be sent to the examiners),
    b) written scientific papers (to be sent to the examiners),
    c) final papers (to be sent to the examiners and to the Student Services at infoportal@leuphana.de using the Leuphana e-mail address).

  3. As a further exception, it will also be possible for students in the summer semester 2022 to withdraw from an attendance exam until the beginning of the exam by adapting the administrative practice to the handling known from the winter semester 2021/2022. In this case, non-attendance at the examination is considered a declaration of withdrawal. In these cases, teachers are asked to note a no-show (NE) in the grade lists. Student Services will subsequently document the withdrawal in the digital examination administration. Written scientific papers and the written part of final theses remain exempt from this regulation.

  4. Students who, for corona-related reasons, are unable to take an examination in a room with other persons for proven medical reasons (medical certificate), even taking into account the university's hygiene concept, may also take their examination in another room as an infection control measure within the scope of spatial and organizational possibilities. In this case, please contact the person responsible for you in Student Services at an early stage: www.leuphana.de/services/studierendenservice/ansprechpartner-im-studierendenservice.

  5. Teachers who, for corona-related medical reasons (medical certificate), are unable to conduct an examination in the presence of others and cannot have the examination conducted by other invigilators, are requested to coordinate individually with the Dean of Studies responsible for them that the alternative examination conduct specified in myStudy can be implemented. Please inform your students and Student Services accordingly.

  6. On the way to and from examinations the obligation to wear a medical or FFP2 respiratory protection mask still applies. Wearing a respirator is also strongly recommended while taking exams; however, due to the spacing given during exams, wearing a mask is not mandatory.

  7. On the other hand, on the way to and from courses and during courses, the wearing of a medical or FFP2 respirator mask inside buildings remains mandatory. This requirement is currently in effect until the end of the summer semester lecture period, which is July 8, 2022.

  8. Corona testing will continue to be available on campus until further notice. As it currently stands, the DRC will continue to operate its testing station on campus (storefront/Building 25) even after the Corona testing ordinance is amended.

  9. Corona immunizations will also continue to be available on campus until further notice. County mobile immunization teams will continue to offer an immunization opportunity on Tuesdays, also in the storefront/Building 25, as of the current status; no appointment is still required.

With the aforementioned regulations, we hope that the university has found a pragmatic approach and a good balance between the interests of health protection and the interests of a good, comparable and fair conduct of courses and examinations, as it has done in previous semesters.

The Presidential Board will inform you again about the regulations applicable for the winter semester 2022/2023 after detailed consultation at the latest by the end of September 2022.

If you have any questions or comments, please continue to contact your dean of studies or the central e-mail address cv-info@leuphana.de. As usual, all Corona regulations are also available at www.leuphana.de/portale/coronavirus.

With best regards
