M&T graduation ceremony premiers in lecture hall 2
2024-12-16 Almost 120 students of the Leuphana School of Management and Technology (M&T for short) experienced their big moment in November.
For the first time in Lecture Hall 2, the graduates received their Bachelor's and Master's degrees. After the opening with the song ‘Reise’ by musician Bastian ‘Pelle’ Franz, the evening began, attended by around 300 guests.
The rows of the lecture hall were well filled with family and friends as Dean Prof. Dr. Paul Drews gave a speech about the School, its goals and the process of change in recent years. After the presentation of the new M&T image film, Prof. Dr. Ricardo Usbeck, who is new to the faculty, addressed a few amusing words to the audience. The professor of computer science admitted that he still likes to get lost in the central building. The organisers decided not to choose the usual event location in the large Audimax of the Libeskind building this time because the School of Education which was saying goodbye to more graduates. This way, all participants ensured that there was enough space for guests as well.
Speaker Yelyzaveta Yakimova, who is a student, was also pleased about this although parts of her family could only witness her speech through a video call. She emphasized her contribution to the internationalisation of the student body. Team spirit, a focus on the future and peaceful coexistence are very important to the Ukrainian. Afterwards, it was time for the presentation of certificates. Moderated by Prof. Dr. Paul Drews and Prof. Dr. Brit-Maren Block, the students of Engineering, Business Administration and International Business Administration & Entrepreneurship received their certificates.
Depending on the subject, the documents were handed over by a different professor from the School, who were then happy to pose for a photo.
For Management & Entrepreneurship and Management & Engineering, the Master's certificates were handed out at the very end. The ceremony concluded with a word of welcome from the student council, which also honoured students for their voluntary work.
Dean Paul Drews then invited students and spectators to a glass of sparkling wine in the central building.
