Accounting & Finance – new part-time certificate program starts in the coming summer semester

2026-01-23 The new part-time certificate program in Accounting and Finance will start at Leuphana Professional School in the coming summer semester. Prospective students can apply until January 31, 2026.

Starting in the summer semester of 2026, Leuphana University Lüneburg will expand its range of part-time study programs to include a new focus on “Accounting & Finance.” The program is part of the part-time Bachelor's degree program in Business Administration (BWL) and can be chosen as a specialization. At the same time, it can also be taken as a stand-alone certificate at the Leuphana Professional School and is therefore also aimed at specialists and managers who wish to deepen their knowledge in these areas.

The new specialization combines the areas of accounting and finance in an integrated curriculum. Participants gain an understanding of national and international accounting in accordance with HGB and IFRS as well as consolidated accounting. In addition, they gain a sound insight into topics such as corporate finance, capital markets, and entrepreneurial risk management in a national and international context. “The specialization is characterized by the close interlinking and holistic view of the areas of accounting and finance,” emphasizes Prof. Dr. Henning Schröder, program director of the part-time business administration program. The aim is to enable students not only to analyze financial information, but also to incorporate it into management decisions in a targeted manner. Current developments such as the ongoing digitalization of the financial world and sustainability-oriented financial management are also included in order to ensure a forward-looking understanding of both subject areas.

Teaching takes place in a blended learning format that combines face-to-face seminars on weekends with e-learning. This combination allows participants to study flexibly alongside their careers and put what they have learned directly into practice. A high degree of practical relevance through case studies and interactive learning methods runs through all modules. Lecturers from academia and business practice design the courses and ensure a transfer of knowledge that closely links theory and practice.

With the new focus on “Accounting & Finance,” Leuphana University is specifically expanding its continuing education portfolio and creating a part-time program at the Professional School that supports students in gaining a holistic understanding of financial relationships and acting confidently at the interface of accounting, financial management, and strategy in their professional practice.
