Workshop Warehouse Technology Robotics - Computer Science Day 2021

2021-11-03

At 2021 Computer Science Day, the Institute for Business Informatics and roboterfabrik Lüneburg offered a joint workshop on robotics. In this workshop, the students were able to try out programming robots in the Python programming language as well as programming a collaborative robot using the online programming method directly on the robot itself. The overall goal of the workshop was to replicate the functions of an automated warehouse.

Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Lin Xie, the students were able to learn in the first part of the workshop how to programme a Lego Mindstorms robot so that it moves along a coloured line. For this, the students received an introduction to the Python programming language and were able to directly apply their newly acquired knowledge in practice. The aim of this task was for the Lego robot to transport a load to the collaborating robot.

In the second part of the workshop, led by Nora Heinig-Niemeyer, the students were able to get to know how to work with a collaborative robot at the roboterfabrik Lüneburg. Here, the students had the opportunity to use so-called online programming to save commands directly to the robot. The aim of the second part was to take the load from the Lego robot by the collaborating robot and to pack the load into a shipping box.

The students had a lot of fun applying the newly acquired theoretical knowledge directly in a practical task.
