"It is not enough to be excellent in your own field, you also have to be able to bear legal responsibility and make legally sound decisions," said Jorge Valdenegro Moreno about closing the gap between business administration and business law.

Jorge Valdenegro Moreno from Berlin could have accessed many in-service training programmes in the German capital. "But I wasn't looking for anything general, I was looking for something special: a law-oriented course of study that strongly emphasises entrepreneurial aspects." He found it with the part-time Corporate and Business Law LL.M. programme at Leuphana Professional School. "The degree programme enabled me to consolidate all my professional experience with fresh and sound legal input in order to deepen the crucial legal framework, be it as a managing director of a GmbH or even as a board member of an AG in addition to the dynamics with the supervisory board with a view to corporate governance and capital market law," explains the manager.

With the Corporate and Business Law LL.M., Leuphana Professional School offers a part-time Master of Business Law. The Master of Laws teaches comprehensive content of commercial and corporate law as well as the interdisciplinary link between law and business. Students are enabled to independently conduct an economic analysis of these areas of law and to recognise specific economic contexts.

Jorge Valdenegro Moreno studied business administration with a focus on corporate management and has an international certification in portfolio management. In the meantime, he looks back on an international career of more than 20 years in financial and commercial management in various management positions on three continents. Jorge Valdenegro Moreno wanted to close the gap between business administration and commercial law with his part-time degree programme: "The practice-oriented programme helped me to implement legally sound and modern management methods on a global level in a DAX-listed company to ensure the quality of results and the anticipatory ability to act in corporate management. It is not enough to be excellent in one's own field, one must also be able to bear legal responsibility and make legally sound decisions," explains the manager and global head. Today, he leads an international team that now includes more than 30 employees at company locations all over the world.

Jorge Valdenegro Moreno has completed his studies and looks back on two years at Leuphana Professional School: "The time was very instructive for me. But it was also challenging to balance family, job and studies. Thanks to the support of my wife, however, I was able to master the time well," says the family father. The pandemic broke out right at the beginning of his studies: "The support at the Professional School was excellent despite the COVID 19 pandemic. This is especially true for the changeover from face-to-face to online teaching, which was carried out excellently and with great commitment by the university and professors and lecturers."
