Ecosystems, Biodiversity and Social-Ecological Systems
Biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation are critical sustainability concerns. Leuphana's research on ecosystems, biodiversity and social-ecological systems seeks to provide actionable knowledge on better biodiversity management and governance. Our research on ecosystems and biodiversity focuses on the effects of global change (e.g. climate or land use change) on organisms and communities, as well as on changes in biological processes. Within the broader context of social-ecological systems, our research investigates biodiversity conservation and restoration, human-nature relationships, and sustainable ways of living within planetary boundaries.
