Stay Afloat Through the Highs and Lows of Your PhD

The PhD journey can be exciting, demanding, and sometimes overwhelming. This group offers a space to connect with other PhDs, exchange experiences, and navigate challenges along the way. Together, we’ll explore ways to deal with stress, set boundaries, manage conflicts, and handle your own and others’ expectations. You’re invited to share topics that matter to you. Everything discussed in the group remains strictly confidential.

All PhDs are warmly invited. Depending on the group, sessions will be held in English or German.

When:

Every other Wednesday, 3:30 to 5:00 pm (15:30–17:00)
Upcoming dates: 05.11., 19.11., 03.12., 17.12.2025 (further dates to follow)

Each session works on its own, so you can decide whether to join one, several, or all. Please register for each date you plan to attend via the corresponding link.

Need to cancel? Email gradskills@leuphana.de at least 48 hours in advance. Late cancellations/no-shows may result in exclusion from future sessions.

Who:

This is a joint initiative by the Leuphana Graduate School and the Counselling Service of the Studierendenwerk OstNiedersachsen.

• Alina Jankowski – Psychologist & Gestalt Therapist (Counselling Service, Studierendenwerk OstNiedersachsen)
  For four years now, Alina has been part of the counselling service of the Studierendenwerk and is well acquainted with the challenges and demands of university life. Before that, she worked for twelve years as a psychologist in a clinical context.
• Monika Tschense – Postdoctoral Researcher (Institute of Sustainability Psychology) & Coordinator for Competence Development (Graduate School, Leuphana University of Lüneburg)
  In addition to research and teaching responsibilities as a postdoc, Monika supports PhDs to strengthen and expand their skills at the Graduate School. Throughout her academic journey, she has been advocating for the interests of PhDs and postdocs, currently as part of the Council of Academic Staff (WiMi-Rat).
