This workshop is your chance to discuss with one of the original promoters of education for sustainable development. Prof. Hans van Ginkel has initiated the Copernicus Program at Utrecht University and is a former president of the United Nations University in Tokyo. He has varied experiences on how sustainable development can be taught and promoted at universities, which he would like to share and compare to your experiences at the Leuphana.

In order to facilitate the discussion, Prof. van Ginkel will give a short

introduction about the topic "Sustainable Universities - Experiences from

the United Nations University and Utrecht University: a comparison".

Together we will then collect the themes that you are most interested in. A short working phase in small groups will allow you to prepare discussion points about these themes. The discussion itself will be set in a fishbowl format, so that everyone will get the chance to discuss with Prof. van Ginkel in a personal setting.

This workshop hinges on your participation and willingness to raise

questions. So take this opportunity to discuss what you care about

concerning education for sustainable development.

Attendance of Prof. van Ginkel’s lecture at the Leuphana Sustainability

Summit is compulsory for participation in this workshop.
