Target Agreements

The Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kultur (MWK) concludes multi-year strategic target agreements with the University of Lueneburg Foundation and the Leuphana University of Lueneburg as a public corporation. According to § 1 para. 3 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG), the agreements on objectives are based both on the state university planning and on the development planning of Leuphana.

Leuphana and the MWK have concluded the current target agreement for the years 2014 to 2018. The future target agreement will apply for the years 2019 to 2021.
In the strategic target agreements, targets are formulated for selected subject areas (e.g. research, internationalisation, quality in studies and teaching) that are of importance for the overall development of the university. New target agreements are based on an extensive coordination process within Leuphana. The Quality Development and Accreditation Unit accompanies this process and drafts the target agreement for a decision by the Executive Committee.

Annual reports document the status of goal achievement.
In addition to the objectives agreed for several years, the number of study places, the establishment, substantial change or closure of study programmes and the measures for implementing the Higher Education Pact are reflected in annual agreements on study offer objectives.
